Little Candidate

Imagine our surprise when Mack came home saying he wanted to run for Secretary in the Student Council at his new school. We were extremely proud of him for sticking his neck out there--being the new kid and only a 3rd grader.
He really had a great attitude about the whole thing win or loose. He even strategized picking
Secretary as his position over Vice President because he didn't want to split the American
vote, there were already some of his friends running for that position. And running for President
he said was too big of a long shot for him. What he didn't know when he signed up was that his
other American 3rd grader friend also signed up for Secretary. So unfortunately the vote got divided anyways and double since it was another 3rd grader. But luckily that boy won so Mack didn't feel so bad, knowing it went to his friend.
He did a great job fulfilling all the requirements to run,
-Got past and present teacher recommendations
-Wrote an essay
-Wrote and gave a speech in front of the entire school
-Made posters

One of the biggest projects he has undertaken thus far in his short life.
And we as his parents enjoyed watching the progress and growth that came from it.
We figured what is more international then McDonalds? Luckily for us it was an easy tie in. However,  I did get a little worried while making the posters that I would get a cease and dismiss poster from the Golden Arches themselves. But I figured we were probably safe with only 2 posters in an obscure school in Hungary.

The candidates before the speech.

Although there wasn't win, there was still a lot to celebrate. We went to McDonalds and he wanted to try his first BIG MAC. I warned him he may not like their special sauce but he ended up finishing the whole thing.
What a guy.
