All this for me?

We all know there are days, good, bad, the ugly and then there are the really good days that make you stop and you think "ALL THIS FOR ME?"

Yesterday was that day for me. It started with my finishing a project I started when Creed was a newborn and I found the darn thing last Saturday and thought "I am going to get this Bible quiet book done this week before Cam gets home if it kills me." (It just about did!) However, it was quite enjoyable to put to use my wonderful sewing machine that I haven't used in awhile. I do more quilting than sewing. So buttonholes, zippers, hook and eyes were all done by yours truly. I am pretty proud. Unfortunately today I almost didn't want my kids to use it at church for fear they would ruin it. Because trust me, I won't be making another one!

Then my feel good mood was raised up a notch because it was accompanied by the arrival home of Cam from being in Oklahoma. His trip was shortened to only 2 weeks which made me oh so happy.

After we picked him up at the airport, we went to a Military appreciation BBQ that was hosted in our neighborhood by a local Baptist church. There were carnival games, bouncy houses, entertainment and food. All that was free. Anyone who knows me knows that I always love a bargain. So at this function there was even a raffle. Our good fortune started with Mack winning the first kids prize $25 to Toys R Us. Not too shabby. Then later Cam won 3 free sandwiches to Subway which just happens to be one of his favorite places. Not to be left out Creed at the end wins a Narnia CD and teddy bear. During the latter prize winnings my boys are no where to be found. So I kept going up to claim their prizes. While there collecting Creeds prize they announced the GRAND PRIZE winner Heather Shirley for a brand new BBQ GRILL. Can you believe it. Little oh me.

MY new grill! The only catch is when they dropped it off in my garage they mentioned that Sunday school was at 9:30 tomorrow morning. Poor folks they didn't know they were dealing with a Mormon. I almost felt obligated to go this morning. I mean come on, I never get these kind of goodies at my church. :)

Oh no, my good fortune is not over there. When I finally found my boys they were at home bathed, teeth brushed and ready for the baby sitter to come so Cam and I could go on our much anticipated date to see the Dark Night. Wow, how nice is that to come home too.

Wait not done yet. While waiting for our neighbors to get ready who were going out with us I went and got my mail and my bare essentials makeup that I have been anxiously waiting for (because I am tired of shaking the empty bottle to get every last drop out) arrived. Oh the simple things in life that make me so happy. So feeling such a natural high of "wow what a day" I walked into my bedroom to put my makeup away and low and behold, a maternity store exploded on my bed. My sweet husband surprised me with some new clothes he bought while in Oklahoma to finish out my pregnancy with. Combined with my previous shipment of a TON of darling maternity clothes from my friend Karla I have a pretty fun selection of clothes.

I am sorry you all had to suffer through my detailed day, I don't want to appear boastful. But when the good times roll sometimes you gotta share. I just wish I had been in Vegas when this rare luck occurred.

Tennis Anyone?

This post is kind of fun for me. I finally enrolled Creed in a class that he will do without clinging to me, run off, or just plain doesn't care about. It's tennis! The city here actually offers lessons for 2-3 year olds and another class for 4-5 year olds that I enrolled Mack in. And for some reason the last 4 months or so Creed has shown a significant interest in tennis. If he sees it on T.V. or finds our rackets in the garage he asks to play. So I thought I would foster this interest and see if there was any talent. Of course I would love to say that we have the next Andy Roddick in the making but I won't be that obnoxious. I just think I have found a sport for Creed that he will probably enjoy throughout his life. He just has a natural swing and talent for it. Even at 3. So its fun to watch. I don't want to appear as if I am playing favorites by only talking about Creed, he is just the one that sparked this particular interest. Mack too is enjoying his lessons and does just as well. He is however a little more interested in how far he hits the ball instead of the accuracy of the hit. So I feel bad that we missed baseball signups again this year.

More milestones

I can finally put my basement rooms in order. After 8-10 weeks of waiting (the website said 8-10 days mind you) the ever beloved, sought after bunk beds have finally arrived. Albeit it was very sweet to see the boys sharing the queen bed while waiting for their new beds to come. (which means now we have a guest bed for our guest room anyone takers?) Poor Cam though, they came the day before he left. Unfortunately I had to crack my whip and insist they got put up before he left. Otherwise, I would find a way to do it while he was gone. Cam being the chivalrous husband that he is didn't want his prego wife and some undeserving neighbor who would have been dragged into the project doing it, decided sleep was overrated we got to work.
The bunk beds were not my idea mind you. Cam says its like a right of passage for boys or something testosterone driven like that. I thinks its more of a one-way ticket to the ER. Time will tell how they work out. My only criteria was that I got to pick them out and they had to be able to separate so when the aforementioned ER trip occurs they can be taken down and put into nice, safe, easy to make twin beds. However, the one bonus is Cam promised to change the sheets because it is way too hard for me to do it right now. And I am sure they will be for their entire existence if I can help it.
Which brings me to my next milestone. We are on day 5 of Creeds potty training. Why you might ask did I decide to embark on this while Cam was gone. I don't know, a hormonal imbalance affected my judgement I guess. I figured Cam spear headed Mack's training so it was my turn. I realize now I should have waited for Cam! Not only because I have to keep changing the sheets but also why deprive the man of such a worthy task. What was I thinking?
Creed is doing OK though. He made all day today without an accident. Church and all. So that's progress. RIGHT?!?
I just wish just once I would get the kid that climbs on the toilet one morning and never looks at diapers again. I know those kids are out there and its not some urban legend, I have heard their mothers bragging. So for now I will suck it up and continue to buy pull-ups (or night underwear as we lovingly call them at our house) for my two BIG boys and prepare for a third round of supplying the makers of Huggies their mortgage payments.

Too many posts Too little time

Wow what a month. I am sure many have been on the edge of their seats waiting for another post?!? :) So for those 2 people here is what we have been up to. I don't want to over load everyone on info but I have had probably 5 different post ideas going on in my head with a dozen pictures for the last 4 weeks. Just never time to put them down. So lucky for you they will be condensed into 1 post and highlighted for those who want to really skim the basics.

#1. Creed finally got rid of the "B" and "plug" or known to most as a blanket and pacifier. Amazingly easy actually, Cam sent him to bed one night while I was gone without them as a punishment and voila. Nap time next day was a little sad for both mommy and Creed but we survived and he hasn't missed them since. We aren't totally cruel and have allowed him to have his "B" still but I guess its not the same if its not a package deal. He isn't as dependent on it.

#2. We just returned from a 2 1/2 week vacation to Utah and Idaho for lots of family fun get togethers. In Huntsville at the reservoir we had a reunion with my moms side that hasn't happened in years. In fact I think its the first time a lot of the family have even met Mackguire.
I love seeing all my cousins and relatives. I wish we got together more. It was especially fun to see my cousins triplet boys who are 4 months older than Creed. Can I say super mom. Unfortunately all the photos are on my moms camera so they probably won't be shared. The boys loved hanging out with my brother Spencer's girls. They were entertained for days and we rarely heard a peep out of them. The best!

#3. We went to Idaho for the 4th to spend with Cams family which is always fun for me. I love being in Rexburg at that time. I don't know why it just seems like that is where the 4th should be. Maybe because I have tried to go to other parades and it just isn't the same if you don't anyone in it. Especially for my boys who waited the whole parade looking for Grandpa on his campaign float.

#4. Can I just say I have the best in-laws. They were so gracious to let the boys and I stay an extra week and drive us half way home the next Saturday where Cam met us. Just so I could stay and have some "me time" before baby comes. I got a whole day of shopping with my oldest friend Mandy (we've been pretty tight since nursery when we were 3). Then the next day we got mani, pedi, and facials. I got to hang out with other dear friends from High School at Rigby Lake and the park. Super fun. The only downer that happened was while we were there I got a call from Cam saying that he got selected for some advanced instrument training course in Oklahoma for 3 weeks. And he was leaving Monday morning. So we only got one day with Daddy before we got separated again. Had we known I wouldn't have stayed the extra week in Idaho and we probably could have all gone together. Oh well. Whats another month apart this year right?

#5. Speaking of the park, my last post idea is pretty random but one of the greatest draws to the city parks in Rexburg they actually have free lunch every weekday from 11:30-1:00 for kids under 18. Its some grant that the school district got. So trucks arrive at the city parks with well balanced nutritional lunches. I have never heard of anything like this before. The days we took advantage was such a treat for the boys. They loved trying to guess what we were going to eat that day. Pretty great.

Ok so I know I had many more thoughts to share but to spare everyone from a short novel I just shared some of the highlights.
