Yesterday was that day for me. It started with my finishing a project I started when Creed was a newborn and I found the darn thing last Saturday and thought "I am going to get this Bible quiet book done this week before Cam gets home if it kills me." (It just about did!) However, it was quite enjoyable to put to use my wonderful sewing machine that I haven't used in awhile. I do more quilting than sewing. So buttonholes, zippers, hook and eyes were all done by yours truly. I am pretty proud. Unfortunately today I almost didn't want my kids to use it at church for fear they would ruin it. Because trust me, I won't be making another one!
The creation match-up and Shadrach, Meshach and Abed-Nego button flames
Parting the red sea zipper and matching fish snap-ons.
Velcro Lions den and David and Goliath hook and eye rocks that fit into the bag
Jonah slides in the whale and the kind of creepy Queen Esther hair barrettes
Then my feel good mood was raised up a notch because it was accompanied by the arrival home of Cam from being in Oklahoma. His trip was shortened to only 2 weeks which made me oh so happy.
After we picked him up at the airport, we went to a Military appreciation BBQ that was hosted in our neighborhood by a local Baptist church. There were carnival games, bouncy houses, entertainment and food. All that was free. Anyone who knows me knows that I always love a bargain. So at this function there was even a raffle. Our good fortune started with Mack winning the first kids prize $25 to Toys R Us. Not too shabby. Then later Cam won 3 free sandwiches to Subway which just happens to be one of his favorite places. Not to be left out Creed at the end wins a Narnia CD and teddy bear. During the latter prize winnings my boys are no where to be found. So I kept going up to claim their prizes. While there collecting Creeds prize they announced the GRAND PRIZE winner Heather Shirley for a brand new BBQ GRILL. Can you believe it. Little oh me.
The boys loot! (the honey and make-up bag were thrown in my grill kind of random but hey free!
MY new grill! The only catch is when they dropped it off in my garage they mentioned that Sunday school was at 9:30 tomorrow morning. Poor folks they didn't know they were dealing with a Mormon. I almost felt obligated to go this morning. I mean come on, I never get these kind of goodies at my church. :)
Oh no, my good fortune is not over there. When I finally found my boys they were at home bathed, teeth brushed and ready for the baby sitter to come so Cam and I could go on our much anticipated date to see the Dark Night. Wow, how nice is that to come home too.
Wait not done yet. While waiting for our neighbors to get ready who were going out with us I went and got my mail and my bare essentials makeup that I have been anxiously waiting for (because I am tired of shaking the empty bottle to get every last drop out) arrived. Oh the simple things in life that make me so happy. So feeling such a natural high of "wow what a day" I walked into my bedroom to put my makeup away and low and behold, a maternity store exploded on my bed. My sweet husband surprised me with some new clothes he bought while in Oklahoma to finish out my pregnancy with. Combined with my previous shipment of a TON of darling maternity clothes from my friend Karla I have a pretty fun selection of clothes.
Capri's, a dress, shirts and tanks oh my!

I am happy for you! Need more days like this, for sure!
I never knew Cam was a clothes shopper. I'm impressed.
By the way, you don't want to be here in Vegas....it is REALLY HOT!!!
What a fantastic day!! You deserve it, my friend.
What a great day! Very deserved too! :) Too funny about the baptists and the bbq. ;)
I LOVE the idea of a girls night out in December. :)
Heather...when it rains it poors...I need to call you and tell ya about my Idaho trip.
I love winning drawings. You definitely are lady luck. So glad Cam is back. Happy to hear you are doing great. :)
Sounds like you're living right! What a fun day, glad it happened to you, now send some of that luck my way will ya? I need one of those kind of days! Cam is brave to buy you clothes- Mitch wouldn't dare! Have fun in your new wardrobe!
Heather,
You are the luckiest girl I know! I'm glad that you had such a great day! Your quiet book looks like fun.
The outfits are really cute! Cam did awesome. The book is sooo cute! Your so Crafty! Hope your enjoying pregnancy!
WOW! That was a day to remember! Your little family is so darn cute! I love your blog and the fun things you share with us. I too am impressed with Cam's ability to pick out pregnancy clothes. We just got home from Rexburg. Jed's little sister got married at the temple on Saturday. We make it over there about once a year so each time we go things have changed. I'm excited for your baby to get here! Kid #3 changed our lives: not enough arms to carry everything for three kids, not enough time to get them ready before church no matter how early I start, and I never see the cupboards or floors in the laundry room because they are always covered. I hope that didn't scare you!?! Be sure and keep us posted with that baby!
i love that bible quiet book! so creative you are. (i'm channeling my inner yoda.)
Waaait....Vegas??!! Are the Mormons allowed to gamble? ;) Just kidding. Your little Bible is SOOO cute!!! You are so crafty!

What a FUN day for you. I'd like to order 2 Bible books, please! I know what you mean about getting something in the mail that you ordered and having it make your day. Ah, the simple pleasures of being a stay-at-home mom. How was Baptist Sunday school?
