Out with a bang...

Just as our summer started with fun in the hills it ended the same way...unfortunately (or fortunately depending on the day) Mack had school on Friday so Cam and I along with the younger two spent the day getting some long over due errands done.
SATURDAY:
We decided after living here an accumulative of 5 years we should probably see the badlands. It didn't disappoint. It made it even more fun to go along with some great friends. The weather was HOT but that didn't stop the kids from enjoying all the fun places to climb and explore. After we went to the 1880 Town its a picturesque movie set town with a great old saloon where we drank some sarsaparillas and enjoyed the watching the kids perform on stage. And if that wasn't enough for 8 kids under the age of 6 we decided to stop at the Famous Wall Drug for dinner on the way home.

THE BADLANDS

so much climbing, so little time

some of the munchkins on the stage coach

Our Chorus lil' Line
The Kennards (where's Lucy?? sitting by Creed)

the Olson's (where's Scott?? boohoo he's deployed)

MONDAY:
Was another day of firsts that should have been done the first time we lived here but didn't.

Cosmos..it's been calling my name for years. It's a crazy little place claiming to be "all out of whack" a completely nauseating experience. I sure don't have the stomach I used too. So lots of pictures of us standing on level ground but not being able to stand up straight.
And on to pouring more money down the toilet we went to the Big Thunder Gold Mine.
Where we were led on a tour of an old mine and panned for gold.

look NO HANDS!!

notice the ball is not rolling down the plank...eerie! Right?!?

ready for some gold mining!

The highlight of the day goes to show that some of the greatest family moments come from the simple things in life. Like FISHING!! The boys all caught numerous amounts of fish and had a blast doing so. I have to brag that yours truly was the only one to catch a trout (instead of bass) and it was the biggest catch of the day! Yeah me!!

my poor trout ended up getting dropped, poor fishy...
we think we saw him swim off after awhile
But what a beauty!
My first attempt. too small!

what Pro's!
