a moment with Callan

Tonight while spending -what is by far one of my favorite times of day-
"snuggle" time (what he calls it) with Callan,
I was reminded how much I sure love this kid.
He really is a complete ball of crazy!!
One moment he is melting your heart with his raspy little voice and
the adoring glances he throws your way and the next
moment he is displaying absolute defiance and ear piercing wailing.

So here is my list (compiled with help from those who also spend time him) of Callan traits and what makes him
distinct in my little world.
  • He really has NO volume control...I mean it, I have not seen or heard anything like it.  LOUD is his only option.
  • He gets very anxious and unraveled when my hair is in any form other than down.  Its very upsetting to him, he obsesses about it until it is in what he feels is in the proper position
  • He has a strong opinion of what pj's he wears everynight. This will trickle down into shirts and pants every once in awhile, but he never budges when it comes to his jammies.
  • He always says "thank you mommy" after I change his poopy diaper. (now be honest who wouldn't love that?) it totally helps make that disgusting job a little more tolerable.
  • From such a young age he has had an amazing sense of direction. He knows when we are within a 2 block radius of our favorite ice cream shoppe and the YMCA,  among other places  (funny how  its those two things I chose to list and they do  play a real hand in each other. haha) He instantly pipes up with "where we going" when I deviate even slightly from our normal path to any previously told destination.
  • He is my most mischievous of children, (which I really can't complain, I hear horror stories from other parents from what their toddlers get into)  case in point tonite when I was starting to pack for our upcoming DC trip he comes into me with a bright purple hand. I recognized it immediately as mushed black berries. The only real causality was my kitchen rug, I couldn't get the major spot completely out.
  • Like most toddlers he loves to be outside and he is an amazing jumper on our trampoline. Too bad after yesterday, he is banned for awhile. He fell off TWICE!! and I mean lucky to be in one piece types of falls. The last (and final) fall I literally caught him by the diaper before he landed even harder on his head. not fun moments for either of us.
  • Most days he takes a 2-3 hour nap, but on really busy mornings, like today, he slept for 4. So that is why we get our "snuggle" time after the older boys have gone to bed.  I have come to really enjoy these nights. We either snuggle with or without popcorn and he watches TV with me.  Or like tonite he just putters around with a few cars in hand and follows me around the house while I get things done.  (except when he sneaks into the fridge., that rascal!) It is nice since nights is when I miss Cam the most and with his super busy new job and schedule I love that Callan willingly takes his place. ;)
I sure love my little men they each bring such unique and fulfilling attributes into my life.
who knows what show they were all watching, but I couldn't resist how sweet they all looked cozied up together.

Adorable! He and Jake have some things in common. I was keeping Jake up with me tonight, he's almost a completely different boy when it's just the two of us. We miss you!
